And We're Back

Hello everyone who happens to read this. I have not posted a blog since this past March. The reasoning is this With facebook and twitter I did'nt really think that anyone would ever read this blog. Well I was wrong a few not many but a few read this and so I will do my best to try and blog as often as I can. a lot of the times it will be the same things that I put on Facebook or my new website I got coming out very soon Chasenmusci.com. I hope if and when you read this it will be a tool to help you get through day and think deeper about certain things. I hope to get comments from you all telling me your thoughts about things, understanding that remember thses are just my opions and nothing more I think there are a lot of wait to them because Nine times out of ten there biblicly based thoughts etc...
Anyway I hope you all good days, weeks, and years and until next time.

A "Working Vacation"

My blog opens with the thought of you are on a "working vacation". Well for the last week I've packed my family up and headed to Nashville to show them how I roll up there when i'm working. We left bright and early Tuesday at 11:00am. (yeah right) Doesn't that always happen? You have big plans to leave for a trip early the morning of and then everything under the sun happens and you finally get gone at lunch, huh. Well we make our way up to Nashville by going up interstate 40, not a good idea. the first day was fine we made it to Pigeon Forge TN to go shopping for E. the next day we were on our way to Nashvegas. Here's where 40 is not a good idea. it never fails you hit Knoxville TN traffic and its all over, or at least for another hour. as long as I can remember Knoxville has always had construction going on. This time the whole interstate shut down. We had to go down town Knoxville and every place they had the detour sign a work truck was blocking the road. Needless to say my wifes first time to knoxville was not so good. The idea of this trip was to show the cool and beautiful things the trip to nashville has to offer. I will admit that some parts of Knoxvile was really nice and antique. We finally make it to Nashville TN on wednesday afternoon. I took E and Casey by our new label that will soon be anounced and they met my A & R guy James and saw their offices. We went to my new Manegment company "Platform Artist Manegment" where the met manegers and booking company "DCB agency" and no that dosent mean David Crowder Band agency. Then lastly for that day we went to some of the nicest people I know, Tate and Angela Luck. They are so awesome enough to let us stay with them for the rest of the week. Angela is the strongest mom and greatest wife. Tate and her have had there fair share of trials and such and you would never know it. Nashville can show you really how small you are but when I'm with them they are a huge encouragment booster. If you ever get the chance to meet these folks you will never forget it. They are for sure a gift from God. I had to work the rest of the week so I went and wrote a few songs with producers Rob Hawkins and Ian Eskelin. Rob Hawkins is known for producing the bands Fireflight, Nevertheless, Philmont, Esterlyn etc... Ian Eskelin is known for producing the bands : Stellar Kart, Everyday Sunday, Francesca Battistelli etc...
That was fun and very productive. Both producers and writers are incrediably talented. We left yesterday afternoon after we made a pit stop by Jouneys in the mall and picked up some new kicks, check em out, Osiris Shoes
We drove to Memphis TN to see one of my best friends Jeremy Horn.
I'm looking forward to the 7 and a half drive home with a 10 month old. Wow another day in paraidice. I love having my family on the road. I'm blessed.

Awake At 4am, I'm Not Walking The Beach.

I do these daily devotions called "1 minute devotions" from rightfromtheheart.org. One morning I read this one devotion that talked about sometimes God wakes us up way early in the morning just to talk to us and teach us one on one. That has stuck out to me more than any of the hundreds of devotions that I have done. As usual I put it aside and forgot about it then remembered it again, and repeat. This morning I remebered it again. I woke up at 4am on the dot with my son crying. I tryed, oh did I try to go back to sleep after putting him back to bed but I could'nt. All i could think about was that devotion about how the God of the universe wanting to spend one on one time with little me. This time I did'nt put it aside I got strait up washed my face grabed a bible and went down stairs to see what would happen. WOW! It was so true I started praying for my family, friends, relationships, I even prayed for my dogs and felt lagit doing it.
I really flet Gods presence this morning. I ask God to teach me something give me wisdom and direction on how to further His Kingdom. What I got was some scripture that hit me like a tone of bricks. I relized that there were a lot of catching up to do in my life. From the way I treat my family, (no i'm not a bad father or abusive husband but there was things I could do to become a better father, a better husband) to relizing that I had some forgiving to do my self in order for God to forgive me. I learned that Ture worship is ginuine compassion for the poor, hopeless, and the oppressed. In Isaiah chapter 58 it talks about every bit of that and more. I ask God to show specific things to me and he did through this chapter.
Just recently I blogged about a conversation I had with a friend about how the music we write effects today society and how it's a tool for the Kingdom of God. Well I found in this scripture this morning a perfect example. In verses 6-12 of Isaiah 58 it says this; we cannot be saved by deeds of service without faith in Christ, but our faith lacks sincerity if it dosent reach out to others. When I read that I was like "God could you be more obvious?"
All in all this morning was such an energy booster for me and my walk with Christ. As i walked down the stairs to my living room I could hear the sound of my hevaenly father saying "Thats my boy!" Whats funny is thats what my earthly father tells me and used to tell me all the time when he was proud of me. It felt Good to spend that one on one time with God.
The way the scriptures end in this book are great. I have been trying to gear up to do this 40 day fast. Call me stupid or crazy but I really wanted to do this. With the way I tour and the lack of healthy foods and such on the road I was unable to do the fast. I got discouraged and thought of myself as a failure in this area. I've prayed since then to help me find away to "fast" so it may grow me and further my relationship with God. but the ending of Isaiah 58 ends like this; True fasting is more than what we DONT eat. It is pleasing God by applying His word to our scoiety. It hit me that maybe I need step back and look at this and really grow with God and his teaching even if I cant do the fast for 40 days.
This has been a long blog but I had to wright about it. I encourage you to read Isaiah 58: 1-14 and see how it relates to you.

If All Would Just Make Happy Music.

Not talking much these days more less either singing or making small talk. I've feel even more in love with my son E and my Wife Casey. You stay on the road for a while you start realizing how much you can miss some one. Well I did speak for a little bit today. I had a talk with a great friend of mine today about songs and how much difference there is when between us when we write. I take the approach of reverting everything back to the Kingdom of God in some way and he takes writing to a level of writing about anything and let God be the one who changes there lives. I understand the statement that he made but i also think that it was a very common statement. Almost as a crutch. I think he is smart enough and a excellent song writer to make a comment like that. If all we do is just make happy music that make the world content then why even write. There's enough Katy Perrys and Nickel Backs in this world why just be another musical act when you have the pedestal to further the Kingdom of God by the words and melody God has given you. There was a lot that my friend said today that was very lagit. He said its not us who saves the world but Christ. True. Its not about the return of gifts & fame as a prize for doing a ministy. True. Bands and solo artist should not use Christ to further the carrer. (newage televangilist) True.
In conclution you got to love opinons. I guess its sorda what makes the world go around. Someone bouncing ideas off the other. I am the first to say that i dont have it figured out and dont know everything. I just try my best to live a very Godly and modest life that is pleasing to God and hope for the best. Do I mess up? Sure, when has someone went through life and not messed up. I do think the more we strive to further the kingdom the better off we are. I am open to hearing anyones thoughts as longs as they are open to hearing mine.
Well this old man is going to bed. I've stayed up past my bed time and I can feel it in my teeth. (Thats totally not true. but Evan and Matt think that I am.)

If I Could Only Talk!

I'm back, It's bee a crazy few months. It was like I had all this stuff to say but I could'nt write it down. I do have to say I have had some good songs come out of this time in my life. Christmas is just around the corner and this year I am pumped up because I first of all have a little boy to play with and buy stuff for. Secondly because my family and I are going to Gatlinburg TN the day after Christmas day, the 26th if you are confused. We got a nice cabin way back in the mountains and we're hoping for snow. If not It still will be incredible. So we had some plumbing issues Friday for the first time in 5 years that I've been married. Well except for the time we walked into our old house our old dogs had flooded the whole bathroom by bitting into the pipes under the bathroom sink cabinet. Well anyway back to our plumbing issue we coul'nt get a plummer out to the house until saturday a day later. The plumber knows my wife but she wanted me to give him a call. Well I called like a good husband but here is what I said to him, keep in mind I have never talked to him.
...Phone- ring, ring, ring
...Billy- Hello, this is Billy (with a southern drawl)
...Me-Hey Billy this is Chasen, Casey's Garners wife wanted to see if you could come out and stop up our shower...
Ok Three things wrong with this conversation to begin with ONE-i called her Casey Garner. Her name is Casey Callahan my own last name. TWO-I total said that I was her Wife. How do I get that one mixed up! THREE- I asked him to come out and stop up our shower when i needed it uncloged.
Well needless to say I have a great flowing shower now I had a hard time getting there but we made it happen.

Vacation, A Love Story, & How To Change The World.

Never stop reading. As I go through life trying to figure out what the heck is going on I find that reading has away of directing me. Me and my family are on vacation right now and wow it is well needed. I have been reading these Daily devotions from rightfromtheheart.org. They have really helped me focus on the things that are most important in this world. I find that my wife is more than I could ever ask for. She helps me through a lot of down times and she helps me celebrate during my times that are up. Sure we have healthy heated discussions and questionable conversations just like all marriages do but she never gives up on me. At this time in my life she helps me realize how much I really need my wife and why God gave HER to me. This vacation has helped me find who I am. I wrote these words down one night as she slept in front of me.

Now that I've got that sweet and innocent side out I will say this, she cheats at the card game Crazy Eights. We have this big competition when it comes to Crazy 8's. I finally beat her like 5 or 6 games in a row over the past 2 nights. this afternoon we had a game going and it lasted like 30 min. If you've ever played Crazy 8's you know it takes no time to win or lose. I had one card left and she had like six. she lays down a 4 of hearts or something like that and I lay down a 4 of clubs. it was great I won this game, but wait out of no where she lays down a 4 of something and says she wins. long story ridiculously longer. she somehow cheated and got rid of her cards and now she says she broke my wins for me. Thats just bull! (HA)

My son E is just having the time of his life and he's ony 4.5 months old. He has played in his wave runner in the pool and played in the sand at the beach got new clothes from the outlet stores and watched his mommy and daddy destroy some CRAB LEGS!!!!. I've started a new thing with him called the running man. it's a father son thing I guess. he just laughs so loud when we do this thing we will have to show you sometime
.
Our good, good friends Bryan and Brenda Cox came down to the beach house for the last few days of the Vaca. Of course you put us together and we cant help but have fun. Bryan and I have come up with some cool ideas for the church (marathonchurch) and for my next album. (which is already being demoed, better than ever and tons to write about.) He means the world to me and I really owe a lot of where I am now to him.

The Challenge

Wow sorry for the break in blogs. I have been challenged with a lot of opportunity's here recently. I wanted to make sure that I had all my emotions out before I wrote a blog that just wouldn't make since to you as a fan or just a reader. I am making some changes for web, touring, label, and church staff related stuff and just really going at it with a God filled heart. The very one thing that I didn't want to have happen is me make a move were God would not be the focal point in it all. I totally believe He is and I am comfortable talking about the changes. There are just a few things that are not finalized yet so I will keep them under wraps for now but soon enough you will see and hear my friends. As for my son you may be wondering how he's doing. Well if you go to my Youtube page you can check him out in action. I also have made some new changes to my Myspace page as well with all kind of little gadgets. We leave today to finish up the Shine Through The Stars tour in VA and Washington DC so if you are in those areas check my dates to see where exactly I will be and come say hello. If you are in DC area we are playing a special show for XM radio, it's like a story tellers kind of thing limited to the first 50 or 60 people it's going to be a blast. Well just wanted to feel you in on how things were going on my end and you will see more funny blogs and more songs that haven't been written yet. Just keep on reading my yall, Peace Out!

Jeff Your The Reason

EVERYONE in blog world I'm ok. There's a lot of changes & things that are being handle in my life right now. My family is great I'm healthy but there are things beyond that that are just not right and need some tweaking. so instead of releasing my energy and emotions on the web I figured I would wait and figure out how to say what I need to say in a the right way. But I will be Back soon with all the juicy details. Jeff your the reason I wrote this blog just so you know. (hahahaha)

The BBQ Art

Sorry for the delay in blogs. As I travel I try to stay in hotels that have wireless internet but not all of them work. That was the case for the past few days. Now I think I have found some that will work if I can keep it working. A few days ago we ate at this incredible whole in the wall place called Big Boys BBQ. We found a big sign on the freeway that said voted best BBQ in the top 50 BBQ places in TX. (something like that) We pulled up and knew that it was going to be either very good or very bad by the way it looked. Here's the inside;

Years ago when I was in college I was taken graphic art so I had to get all this art stuff. Well I paid around 2k for all these supply's and used it like three times and one of those times was to draw a color wheel, thats right a color wheel. Lets go back even further to when I was a kid and used to draw or dwar as Will (tour manager) calls it. I would draw cartoon characters all day and all night. I say all that to say this I couldn't sell my drawing kit so I decided to start drawing again, i said huh what the heck. My dad is a cabinet designer so He can draw anything and everything. I always wanted to draw like him but I could'nt, just cartoons. He could imagine something and Draw it. Not me I have to see it first. A week ago I decided that would draw my sons favorite cartoons the Banana Splits. If you don't remember the Banana Splits it was a cartoon show that came on in the 1960's. Of course I watched the reruns. I now watch it with my son on a channel called Boomerang by cartoon network. Here's some pictures of some of the characters on the show. Remember I haven't drew in over 4 years.

I took my Art kit on the road with me cause I knew it would be a lot of riding time. In the van today I saw a DVD cover of the Family Guy. So i had nothing else better to do so I took out the cover and decided to draw Peter, the Family guy.

It's not that easy riding down the road and drawing. After the guys stopped making fun of the fact that i had a drawing kit I realized that I could get used to drawing again. I don't know maybe some day I can be like my dad and just draw whats on my mind. (This is where you say awe!!) Well I could sit here all night and tell you a lot of story's but I know that if Silver is reading this he is already bored to death and I'm really surprised that he made it this far. So I know I need to wrap things up. It has truly been a great trip out to New Mexico for the rodeo concert series. It has given us story's to talk about forever. We have a show tomorrow night with Blind Mellon at the Varsity in Batonrouge LA & then home to my little boy and wife, Man I miss them.
